Training Advice
Our main training session is on Sundays in Santry however it is a very good idea too keep your fitness and strength levels up in the gym also. Here are a few tips and also a training program for you to print out.
Training advice:
- The main exercises are Squats, Bench Press, Power Cleans and Back Pulls. Even if thats all you have time to do, do it!
- Creatine and Protein WORK. If you take creatine whilst weight training 3/4 times a week, you WILL see dramatic results very quickly. I recommend you buy yourself a tub of "Maximuscle Cyclone" and have a shake before and after every weights session. You will notice the difference.
- Technique! When doing weights, technique is key. Make sure if you dont know what you are doing, ask the gym instructer to show you, or better yet, if you are using the Trinity gym I'll be there to show you!
- Dont cheat or be lazy when doing weights. If you can hardly walk and fall asleep in the shower after a trip to the gym, you know you've done a good workout!
- The right weight to lift when doing weights, is defined as the following: If you are aiming to do 10 reps, the weight you have on the bar should be enough so that on the 10th rep you fail or could not possibly do another rep. FAILURE IS THE KEY TO SUCCESS.
- CONSISTENCY is also key. There is no point in going to the gym once every two weeks, you will get no benefit from that. A little bit every day is the ideal situation. Think of it like studying for an exam, you can study a 2 months in advance every night for 30 mins and be fully prepared for the exam, or you can try and cram it all in the night before and probably fail the exam... its the same with weights. A little bit consistently = results.
- Have a training partner. Its alot easier to train with someone, just make sure you dont spend your time at the gym chatting for 2 hours! If you are pressed for time, going to the gym by yourself plugged into your ipod is most efficient wat to do weights. Its all business!
